This is a page I wish I had started much sooner, and it will be one I’ll add to as time goes on and as we remember past radnesses. Pretty much every parent will tell you to take as many photos and videos as possible, which is of course good advice. But there are even more moments of radness that happen when the camera is nowhere near. I recommend keeping a journal or a blog such as this to document such moments, particularly the amazing things your child says at such a young age. If you don’t, you’re likely to forget, and that’s a shame because your child is going to say some doozies:
“Calah is the best. In fact, I’ve fallen in love with her.”(age 5, when asked what he thinks of our new housecleaner)
“You’re not an old lady Mom. You’re just getting old.” (age 5, in response to Mommarooo saying she’s an old lady)
“Which movie is more intense: Firehouse Dog or The Exorcist?” (age 4, while watching the final fire scene of Firehouse Dog)
“Sorry Daddy, I didn’t mean to sniff your balls. Oh wait, yes I did.” (age 5, in response to my frustration at his strange habbit of sniffing my private region)
Him: “Which actor should I be, Daddy?”
Me: “Your camera lets you choose which actor you can be?”
Him: “Yes, which actor should I be?”
Me: “Daniel Day-Lewis.”
Him: “Who is Daniel Day-Lewis?”
Me: “He’s Daddy’s favorite actor. He’s probably the best actor of our generation. One of the best of all time, actually.”
Him: “I’m a better actor than him!”
Me: “Ok.”
Him: “Say it then, Daddy. SAY IT!! I’M A BETTER ACTOR THAN DANIEL DAY-LEWIS!!”
Me: “You’re a better actor than Daniel Day-Lewis…”
(age 5, when playing with his camera that apparently has the magical power of letting you act out movies and choose which actor you want to be)
“Ugh!! What is the gelatinous muck!!” (age 5, upon viewing my wife’s beautiful buffalo wings, perfectly quoting Golding Hawn from Overboard)
ME: “I love you so much, Buddy. If you love me one millionth as much as I love you, I’ll be happy.”
HIM: “Ok Daddy, I love you one millionth as much as you love me.” (age 5, whilst snuggling and feeling particularly gushy towards him)
